Cookie Policy

Habit of the Day uses a small number of cookies and browser storage entries. Most of them exist for one reason: to keep you signed in and remember your preferences.

Last updated:

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. We also use related browser technologies — localStorage, sessionStorage and service worker storage — which work in a similar way. In this policy, “cookies” covers all of these.

2. Essential Cookies

These are required for the app to work. Without them you cannot stay signed in, and your habits will not sync. They cannot be switched off from within the app.

Essential cookies and browser storage
NamePurposeDuration
Authentication sessionKeeps you signed in so your habits sync across visits and devices. Stored by our authentication provider in browser storage.Until you sign out or the session expires
Theme preferenceRemembers whether you chose light or dark mode so the app doesn't flash the wrong theme.Persistent until cleared
Onboarding & app preferencesRemembers your onboarding answers, habit sort order and dismissed prompts so you aren't asked twice.Persistent until cleared
Security & anti-abuseProtects sign-in and payment flows against fraud and automated abuse.Session to 12 months

3. Analytics Cookies

Where enabled, these help us understand how the app is used so we can improve it. They are aggregated and never include the private content of your habits or notes.

Analytics cookies
NamePurposeDuration
Product analyticsAggregated, privacy-conscious measurement of which pages and features are used, so we can improve the app. Never includes your habit titles or note content.Up to 14 months

4. Third Party Cookies

Some cookies are set by the providers we use to run the Service:

  • Supabase — stores your authentication session.
  • Stripe — fraud prevention and secure checkout during payment.
  • Google — “Sign in with Google”, and analytics where enabled.
  • Apple — “Sign in with Apple” authentication.

5. No Advertising Cookies

Habit of the Day does not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels or cross-site tracking, and we do not sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.

6. Managing Cookies

You can view, block and delete cookies and site data from your browser settings — usually under Privacy, Security, or Site settings. Clearing site data for habitoftheday.com will sign you out and reset preferences such as your theme; blocking essential cookies entirely will prevent sign-in from working.

You can also turn off push notifications at any time in your browser or device notification settings, or in the app’s notification settings.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we add or remove cookies, we’ll update this page and the “last updated” date above.
